2010 Audi A3 TDI Priced at $30,775
Audi announced that a diesel Audi A3 would come to the U.S. at the Detroit Auto Show. Today the company announced pricing on the 2010 Audi A3 TDI, which has the same turbodiesel 2.0-liter four-cylinder (140 hp, 236 lb-ft of torque) as the VW Jetta TDI.
Fittingly (?), this announcement came just after Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen's rant about the Chevy Volt and electric cars.
Audi will offer the 2010 A3 TDI only with the dual-clutch S-tronic transmission and only with front-wheel-drive. This drivetrain is good for an 30 mpg city/42 mpg highway fuel economy rating — short of a Prius, but in line with the Lexus HS 250h (35 city/34 hwy), Audi points out. On the other side of the spectrum, top speed is 130 mph.
The diesel A3's $30,775 price tag includes an $825 destination charge. The S-line appearance package you see on the car in the photo is standard, as is leather seating. All the audio options you're likely to want (iPod, Bluetooth and Bose) are optional, though.
The 2010 Audi A3 TDI arrives at dealerships in late November.
